What is Ames Law?
Ames Law Offices is a family firm who began serving families in 1965. Since its inception, it has been a full service law firm practicing in over 20 categories of law, including such areas as workers’ compensation, personal injury, social security disability, civil/human rights litigation along with family law, probate, estate planning and
Medicaid planning.
Ames Law has also been the Village of Orion Attorney for over 50 years and represents four drainage districts. We currently staff four attorneys and 3 support staff. Located in Orion, Illinois, which is situated in Henry County, Illinois, we are centrally located in the middle of 4 surrounding counties, including Henry, Rock Island, Mercer and Knox Counties. We provide service in all four counties.
Ames Law Offices’ current building was opened on January 1, 1970. An addition was added on and opened in 1992.
John Ames designed the addition and, with the help of local contractors, he his family and friends
built the addition,hands on.
The office is adorned in hand-cut, routered and stained woodwork and bookshelves. The office is elegant yet comfortable.
Who is Ames Law?

Ames Law Offices was founded by John Ames in 1965. It originally had three locations. But its main office has always been in Orion, Illinois.
After becoming an attorney, John Ames settled on the Quad Cities Area for his practice. It has always been a family firm, because even when he was a solo practitioner, his wife, Shirlie, worked as his legal assistant, for over 30 years.
Then, his youngest daughter, Stephanie Ames, joined the firm in 1997, and his youngest son, Steven Ames, joined the firm in 1999.
In many cases Ames Law Offices represents more than individual clients. It represents entire families. Hence, our motto is,
”OUR FAMILY SERVING YOUR FAMILY’S LEGAL NEEDS FOR OVER 55 YEARS.”
John Ames had a vision to run a firm that could help a family with the simplest of things, to the most complex. That vision has always been realized daily, to today.
John Ames’ core belief and goal is to be an agent for promoting justice for his clients, both legally and in the way he works with people. He has made sure to instill these qualities in the attorneys and staff of Ames Law Offices.
John has been recognized for his work and dedication, not only by his clients, but also by Who’s Who, the American Top Trial Attorneys and the Village of Orion. He has sat on the judicial review board for several years ensuring that judges entering the circuit are qualified. He has been the attorney for the Village of Orion for over 50 years.
Ames Law Offices has three departments: a one -on-one representation of clients in our current categories of law; a virtual law office, allowing clients to inquire about various legal questions and receive general information; and a litigation support firm providing other firms with investigative services, legal research, pleading development and limited court appearances
